Phishing and Spoofing

Fraudulent emails may look like official Firefighters First communications, but they are designed to trick you into revealing personal account information.

  • Look closely at links: Hover over links to inspect the destination. If the URL looks suspicious (e.g., firefightersfirstcu.fakewebsite.com), do not click it.
  • No personal info requests: We will never ask for your Social Security number, PIN, or account number via email.
  • No urgent threats: We will never threaten to close your account if you don’t act immediately.
  • No email-based updates: You will not be asked to verify information because of “system upgrades.”
  • No surveys for money: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Watch for errors: Poor grammar, typos, and clunky formatting are red flags.
