You can further safeguard your accounts by reviewing statements regularly, going paperless, avoiding sharing card details, using a digital wallet, and managing your cards through the FireFirstCU mobile app. Simple habits and built-in tools work together to help keep your information and finances secure.
Chip card technology.
Your Firefighters First credit and debit cards use chip technology that generates a unique transaction code each time you use your card at a chip-enabled terminal. This makes it significantly harder for fraudsters to duplicate your card information compared to a magnetic stripe alone.
Sign your card immediately.
Sign the signature panel on your credit and debit cards as soon as you receive them.
Review your statements.
Save your receipts and compare them against your monthly statements. Report any unauthorized transactions to us immediately.
Go paperless.
Reviewing your account statements in online banking is safer than receiving them by mail. Set up eStatements in online banking to stop receiving paper statements.
Use a digital wallet.
A digital wallet stores your card information securely so you can make purchases at participating merchants without presenting your physical card. Many digital wallets use a virtual card number that is unique to your device and different from your physical card number. If your phone is lost or stolen, that virtual number cannot be accessed from the device. You still receive all the rewards, benefits, and protections your physical card provides.
Manage your cards with the FireFirstCU mobile app.
The FireFirstCU mobile app gives you real-time control over your cards. You can set transaction alerts, place spending controls, turn your card off if it is misplaced, and set travel notifications before leaving the country.
ATM safety.
