We are here before it becomes a foreclosure.

We understand that life can take unexpected turns. Job loss, illness, and other financial hardships can make it difficult to keep up with mortgage payments. If you are at risk of defaulting on your Firefighters First mortgage, we are committed to helping you explore alternatives to foreclosure. Please reach out—the sooner you contact us, the more options we may be able to offer.

Step 1: Gather documentation.

Before contacting us, please collect the following:

  2. Proof of income (recent pay stubs, benefit statements, or tax returns if self-employed).
  3. A hardship letter explaining your situation.
  4. Current mortgage statements.
  5. Proof of homeowners insurance.
  6. Proof that property taxes are current.
  7. Any recent property valuations (such as an appraisal or listing agreement).

Once your card is added, hold your iPhone near any contactless payment reader to pay. Authenticate with Touch ID, Face ID, or your passcode.

Step 2: Contact us.

Once you have gathered your documents, contact us and we will review your financial situation and discuss the options available to you.

Foreclosure alternatives.

Depending on your circumstances, you may qualify for one or more of the following:

  • Loan Modification: Adjusts your loan terms to make payments more manageable, often by extending the repayment term or reducing the interest rate.
  • Forbearance Agreement: Temporarily reduces or suspends payments, with a plan to repay missed amounts over time.
  • Short Sale: Allows you to sell your home for less than the outstanding balance owed, avoiding foreclosure.
  • Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure: Voluntarily transfers ownership of your home to the credit union to satisfy the debt.
  • Temporary Repayment Plan: Spreads your past-due balance over a set period by adding a portion to each regular payment, helping you catch up without paying everything at once.

If you’re facing financial hardship, reach out before missing a payment. The sooner we talk, the more options we can explore together. Call us at 800.231.1626 or stop by your nearest branch.
