Our Emergency Relief Loan is available to members whose principal residence has been damaged or made uninhabitable by a declared natural disaster. No complicated process. Just financial help from a Credit Union that knows the Fire Family.
How the emergency relief loan works.
Here is what to expect when you reach out to us.
Up to $25,000 in immediate relief.
The Emergency Relief Loan gives you access to up to $25,000 to cover immediate housing costs, essential repairs, temporary living expenses or other urgent needs in the wake of a declared natural disaster. Loan amounts range from $1,500 to $25,000, subject to credit approval.
0% APR on 6-month terms.²
We offer a 0% APR loan option with a 6-month term. Other rates and terms are available up to 60 months.

There is no single script for what disaster recovery looks like. Call us and we will work with you based on your situation. Firefighters First Credit Union membership is required to apply.

Who is eligible for the Emergency Relief Loan?
Firefighters First Credit Union members whose principal residence has been damaged or made uninhabitable by a declared natural disaster are eligible to apply. Membership is required. If you are not yet a member, contact us and we can walk you through the process.
What can the funds be used for?
Common uses include temporary housing costs, essential home repairs, replacing damaged personal property and covering living expenses while your home is being repaired or replaced.
How much can I borrow?
The minimum loan amount is $1,500 and the maximum is $25,000.
What is the interest rate?
We have terms available up to 60 months. Please refer to our rate page for current rates.
How do I apply?
Contact us. Because every disaster situation is different, we handle Emergency Relief Loan requests directly rather than through a standard online application. Our team will work with you to move as quickly as possible.
What is BALANCE?
BALANCE is a confidential, no-cost financial counseling service available to Firefighters First Credit Union members. Their counselors specialize in helping people navigate financial hardship, including recovery from natural disasters. You can reach BALANCE by visiting the BALANCE Natural Disaster Resource Center online.

2. This program provides assistance with low loan rates to our members affected by natural disasters resulting in their principal residence being uninhabitable. Terms range from six (6) to sixty (60) months maximum. Minimum loan amount = $1,500. Maximum loan amount = $25,000.
Representative Example: A $25,000 loan financed at 0.00% APR for six (6) months would result in six (6) payments of $4,166.67. Rates effective October 1, 2024 and are subject to change.
