John serves as Board Chair and previously held roles including 1st Vice Chair, Strategic Planning Committee Chair, and Nominating Committee Chair. He retired after nearly 38 years with the Los Angeles City Fire Department. Before joining the Board in 2005, he served two years on the Supervisory Committee and earned Volunteer Achievement Program certification. He holds a BS in Business Administration Finance from USC and continues to attend industry conferences to stay current on regulations and trends.

Orin has been a member of the Los Angeles Fire Department since 2001. He is a Chief Deputy and commands the Administrative Operations Bureau where he directs, coordinates and controls the administrative functions of the department. Orin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cinematic Arts from the University of Southern California and a Master of Science Degree in Leadership and Management from the University of La Verne. He resides in Southern California.

A 15 year veteran of the Los Angeles City Fire Department, Nathan serves as a Fire Captain I/Paramedic. Prior to the LAFD, Nathan worked for the fire department of the City of Providence, Rhode Island for 14 years. Nathan also currently serves as an elected member of the Board of Education for the Moorpark Unified School District. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Providence College. He and his wife Rebecca have three children and reside in Southern California.

John retired from the Alhambra Fire Department after 27 years of service. He later served as Fire Chief for North County Fire and EMS in Stanwood, Washington and retired in 2025 after 10 more years of service. He considers his role on the Board an honor and one of his most rewarding experiences, supporting firefighters across the nation. He holds a Master of Science in Emergency Services and a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Studies. As a firefighter and former business owner, he brings a unique perspective and remains an active contributor.

Greg serves as Secretary and is a member of the Strategic Planning committee. He became a member of the Credit Union at a very young age, thanks to his dad who retired from the Los Angeles City Fire Department. Greg joined the Los Angeles City Fire Department in 1980 and retired as a Captain at the Frank Hotchkin Training Center. He has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2002.

Richard has served on the Board and Strategic Planning Committee since 2010. After 25 years with the Milpitas Fire Department, he now serves as Fire Chief in Caldwell, Idaho. With 28 years in the fire service, his experience includes fire suppression, emergency operations, paramedic services, and FEMA Urban Search and Rescue. He grew up in Southern California and previously worked as a paramedic. Richard and his wife live in Caldwell and enjoy AKC dog shows with their bull terriers “Winston”, “Thelma”, and “Fiona”.

Scott has been a member of the Board since 2005. He joined the Los Angeles Fire Department in 1987 and retired in 2021 from Fire Station 23 in Pacific Palisades. He has previously served as Board Chair, 1st Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, Chair of the Financial Planning Committee, and Chair of the Nominating Committee.

Jeff has 22 years in the fire service, including 19 with the City of Oakland. He has held roles from Firefighter and Paramedic to Engineer and now Lieutenant at Station 8. Jeff and his family live in Danville and are long-time members. They also own Heart Start CPR, training over 7,000 students annually. His experience reflects a strong focus on service, growth, and attention to detail.

Jerry has been a member of the Board since 2002, and has previously served as 1st Vice Chair and Board Chair. He joined the Los Angeles City Fire Department in 1978 and retired from Fire Station 87 in 2012. He has been a member of Firefighters First Credit Union for over 50 years.

Chief Heather Marques, M.A., serves as Division Chief of Medical Services for an East Bay fire department covering 500+ square miles and 48,000 annual calls. She oversees medical operations, training, wellness, special events, and tactical medicine. Heather holds degrees in photography, paramedicine, and anthropology from UC Berkeley, and a Master’s in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School. She is a graduate of the LAFD Leadership Academy and lives with her family in California.

Larry has served on the Board since 1985, and he has previously served as Board Chair and Secretary. He earned the Certified Credit Union Director designation in 2002 from the Credit Union Executive Society’s Directors Leadership Institute at the London School of Business. Larry Served with the Los Angeles City Fire Department from 1972 to 2008, retiring as Firefighter and Staff Assistant. He currently resides in Bonney Lake, Washington.

Paul began his fire service career with the Los Angeles Fire Department in 2004 and now serves as a Fire Lieutenant with Brentwood Fire and Rescue in Tennessee. A legacy firefighter and long-time member, he is passionate about educating others on the value of the credit union. He holds a BA in Organizational Leadership from Arizona State University. Paul and his wife have three children and value continuing the traditions of the fire service.

Marv has served on the Board of Directors since 1981 and currently sits on the Strategic Planning and Finance and Risk Committees. He retired in 2011 after 35 years with the Los Angeles City Fire Department, including 25 years as a Captain. He also served as treasurer for the Fire Family Foundation. Marv holds a BA from California State University Northridge and is committed to delivering the level of service members deserve.

Josh has served in the fire service since 2005 and has been a Firefighter Paramedic in Lewisville, Texas since 2018. He is proud to support his fellow firefighters as a Board Member of Firefighters First Credit Union, working on behalf of the Fire Family. Josh lives near Lewisville with his wife and their two children.
